What is the Equality Directory?
Keshet's Equality Directory is a listing of Jewish organizations and clergy who have taken steps for LGBTQ+ equality and belonging. It allows organizations and clergy to share what LGBTQ+ belonging is like in their organization, and for LGBTQ+ Jews and their families to search for organizations or clergy in their locations who meet their needs. The Equality Directory is not a certification program, but a location where LGBTQ+ Jews and their families can search for many of the most commonly requested community policies and features.
What is this form?
This form serves as way for organizations and clergy to tell us about their work, their beliefs, and their offerings. After this form is submitted and the organization or clergy member is approved, then the listing becomes live in the directory and visitors will be able to search on these same fields to find organizations and clergy that provide the services they are looking for.
How do organizations and clergy get approved?
Our staff makes sure that all submissions are authentic (i.e. are not spam and refer to a real organization). It is the responsibility of organizations and clergy to ensure the accuracy of the information they provide and keep their listings up to date. Keshet is not a certifying organization, and we encourage users to ask their own questions as they decide whether an organization or clergy member is the right fit for them.
I am a member of the clergy. I don't currently work at a Jewish organization. Can I list myself without an organizational affiliation?
Yes absolutely. We want as many clergy members as possible regardless of their current job placements or affiliations. If you are available to the community then you should have a listing.
I am clergy at a Jewish organization. Can I list myself in addition to listing the organization?
Yes, both you and your organization can have separate listings at the same time. If you leave your organization, your clergy listing can remain in the directory.
I am clergy at a Jewish organization. I don't want my name in the Equality Directory but I want my organization listed.
FIll out only the Jewish organization list type and your name will not be listed in the directory.
I am a staff person at a Jewish organization. Can I add myself to the directory?
No. Staff members who are not clergy members do not have listings.
Do I have to answer all of the questions on this form?
Yes. All questions are required (except one exception for clergy address fields, which are optional for privacy reasons). By making all questions required we ensure that users of the Equality Directory have as much information as possible, and are able to find the support and community they are searching for.
Does my listing stay up indefinitely?
Each year we will send out an email to the organization so that they have the opportunity to keep the listing as is, update the listing, or have the listing taken down.
Some information has changed. How do I update my or my organization's listing?
At any time you may reach out to request an edit to your listing. We are happy to help and to make sure your listing is an accurate representation of you or your organization.
Can I look at the form questions before filling out the form?
